Do What I Say

Just Do What I Say

Just do what I say. Taking control, giving orders, and acting as a commander is an essential leadership style … when a crisis is on the line, on the battlefield, in an emergency, etc.

Think about it – when a building is on fire or a life is hanging in the balance, we can’t wait until the survey results roll in (after multiple reminders and incentives) to make a decision.

The word ‘decision’ and ‘scissors’ come from the same root – cis, which means ‘to cut.’  Sometimes, a leader has to bravely take command.

Think about the strong leaders in US history…where we are today is the result of those historical leaders who exercised the command leadership style as they faced daunting situations where the outcome was unknown, and the stakes were high.

How comfortable are you in taking command?

Do you have the credibility and respect of your team so that when you take command, they follow?
