27 Sep Leaders are Like Lighthouses
Stop for a moment.
Grab a pen and a sticky note. Write down 3 words to describe who you WANT to be as a leader. (Ok…it may not be who you are right at this moment…it is who you aspire to be.)
Put those 3 words in a place where they are always in view.
I often do this exercise in workshops, and it’s common to hear words like “Courageous,” “fair,” “bold,” “confident” or “patient.”
One of my words is “unflappable” and sometimes I could kick myself for choosing that word because life has presented me with many opportunities to be just that!
Leaders are like lighthouses. They aren’t needed so much on perfect sunny days. They are needed on darker stormy days. As you face the daily challenges, ask yourself, “how do I respond in alignment with who I want to be?”
